CCSDPD Receives $10,000 Grant for School Zone Traffic Safety Campaign

The Clark County School District Police Department (CCSDPD) has secured a $10,000 grant from the Nevada Office of Traffic Safety (OTS) for a School Zone Traffic Safety Campaign. The campaign, scheduled from Dec. 1 to Dec. 5, aims to address the high number of students being hit by vehicles this school year, with over 180 incidents, including four fatalities. CCSDPD officers will use the grant to conduct targeted overtime enforcement in areas where unsafe driving behaviors pose a risk to students.
The leading causes of serious and fatal crashes on Nevada's roads are distraction, speeding, and impaired driving. The campaign's goal is to increase law enforcement presence, raise public awareness, and educate drivers to prevent future tragedies. Drivers are reminded to avoid distractions, follow speed limits, and never drive under the influence. The CCSDPD is dedicated to achieving Zero Fatalities in Nevada's school zones by promoting safe driving practices.
