VMS Shines at JAFF: Introducing The Last Flight and Hope

Visual Media Studio (VMS) is set to make its mark at the upcoming Indonesia’s JAFF with two new films: The Last Flight and Hope. The Last Flight, a romantic drama, features real-life couple Jerome Kurnia and Nadya Arina in a love scandal involving a pilot and a flight attendant. This film is a unique addition to Indonesian cinema and is slated for release on January 15. Hope, on the other hand, is an Indonesian adaptation of a Korean film of the same name, depicting the struggles of an eight-year-old girl and her family after a violent assault. Filming for Hope is scheduled to begin in January for a 2026 release.

Both The Last Flight and Hope are helmed by director Benni Setiawan, known for his work on Call Me Dad, another heartfelt drama adapted from a Korean film. These projects are produced by VMS CEO Tony Ramesh, who has been actively involved in promoting the company's expanding portfolio. VMS, based in Jakarta, has quickly gained recognition in the industry with successful releases like The Corpse Washer, which garnered 1.65 million cinema admissions in Indonesia and performed well in Malaysia. Following this, VMS produced religious drama Assalamualaikum Baitullah and horror film Maryam, both released last year.

In addition to producing its own films, VMS collaborates with other filmmakers as a co-investor and co-producer. One such collaboration is the upcoming assault drama Ozora, set to premiere on December 4. With a growing slate of diverse projects, VMS is establishing itself as a key player in the Indonesian film industry, showcasing a range of genres and themes to captivate audiences.
