Sporting Kansas City Parts Ways with Kerry Zavagnin After 26 Seasons: Club Seeks New Head Coach for 2026 MLS Season

Sporting Kansas City and Kerry Zavagnin, who has been with the club for over 26 seasons, have decided to part ways. Michael Illig, co-principal owner of Sporting KC, commended Zavagnin for his dedication to the club as both a player and a coach. Zavagnin joined the team in 2000 and had a successful playing career, winning several titles and accolades. He later transitioned into coaching and served as interim head coach in 2025. The club is now in search of a new head coach for the upcoming 2026 Major League Soccer season, with the MLS SuperDraft scheduled for December 18.
