EVH Gear Introduces the 5150III Hypersonic 6L6 1x12: A Lightweight Digital Modelling Combo Amp with High-Gain Tone Replication
EVH Gear has introduced the 5150III Hypersonic 6L6 1x12, a lightweight 50-watt digital modelling combo amp that aims to replicate the high-gain tone of the original tube amp. Weighing significantly less than its tube-driven counterpart, this new offering from EVH Gear features three channels - Clean, Crunch, and Lead - with concentric EQ controls for Clean and Crunch. Each channel also includes its own noise gate and trim control for precise adjustments, along with global Resonance and Presence controls for fine-tuning the amp's low-end and high-end response. The amp also offers reverb, six power modes, a balanced XLR output, onboard IRs, MIDI, and USB-C inputs.
The Hypersonic model retains the iconic design elements of the original tube amp, including chicken head knobs, a closed-back cabinet made of 11-ply 15mm ply, and a Celestion EVH G12H 30W Anniversary Series 12” speaker. Despite its digital nature, EVH Gear promises that the Hypersonic 5150III 6L6 delivers the same dynamic range, hot gain, and saturation as its tube counterpart. The amp is equipped with a five-button footswitch that allows for easy control of reverb and effects loop switching. With its lightweight construction weighing just over 39lbs, the Hypersonic 5150III 6L6 offers players a portable solution without compromising on tone.
