Legal Battle Unfolds: Blake Lively Challenges Justin Baldoni's Summary Judgment in 'It Ends With Us' Lawsuit

Blake Lively's legal team is challenging Justin Baldoni's request for summary judgment, claiming that he is trying to avoid accountability for creating a hostile environment during the production and promotion of the film "It Ends With Us." They argue that Baldoni and his company Wayfarer Studios are denying Lively her day in court and throwing various accusations at her sexual harassment and retaliation claims. Lively's attorneys allege that the defendants created a hostile environment and failed to investigate complaints when confronted with concerns.

The hit film "It Ends With Us," released in 2024, was a commercial success, grossing $351 million on a $25 million budget. However, the behind-the-scenes production was reportedly tumultuous, leading to a legal battle between Lively and Baldoni that has been ongoing for nearly a year. Lively filed a lawsuit against Baldoni, the film's producers, and publicists, claiming she was subjected to a social media smear campaign after speaking out about Baldoni's alleged sexual harassment.

Baldoni and his supporters previously sued Lively and Ryan Reynolds for defamation, but the court dismissed the claims, stating that Baldoni cannot sue someone for suing him. In a recent motion for summary judgment, Baldoni's lawyers argued that Lively's grievances were minor and did not constitute adverse employment actions necessary to prove retaliation. They defended Baldoni's actions as an attempt to protect his reputation through crisis-management public relations.

In response, Lively's legal team refuted the claims, stating that Baldoni's representatives intentionally attacked her character and reputation. If Baldoni's motion is unsuccessful, a trial is scheduled for March. A representative for Baldoni has not yet commented on the matter.
