Former NBA Player Elden Campbell Found Dead on Beach: Investigation Underway

TMZ Sports has obtained the 911 call reporting Elden Campbell's death, where a man described seeing what appeared to be a human body washed up on the shore. The caller initially seemed unsure but later confirmed to the operator that it looked like a deceased person on the beach. Police discovered Campbell's body next to a jet ski on the beach and pronounced him dead at 8:03 PM on December 1. The medical examiner determined that the 6'11'' center's cause of death was accidental drowning.

While no foul play is suspected, homicide and crime scene detectives are conducting an investigation into the incident. Campbell's family released a statement honoring him as a man of faith who cherished his family and enjoyed fishing, which he was doing at the time of his passing. The 57-year-old NBA veteran played for several teams during his career, including the Los Angeles Lakers, Charlotte/New Orleans Hornets, Seattle SuperSonics, Detroit Pistons, and the New Jersey Nets. He is survived by his wife, four children, and three siblings.
