Former Prince Andrew's Reluctant Move: Delays Expected in Vacating Royal Lodge for Sandringham

Former Prince Andrew is set to vacate his 30-room Windsor mansion, Royal Lodge, after being stripped of his titles. He is expected to move to Sandringham, King Charles’ private estate in Norfolk, in the New Year. However, experts predict that he may delay his relocation until February due to logistical challenges.

Royal author Robert Jobson revealed that Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor is reluctant to leave Royal Lodge and has indicated that he is not in a hurry to move. Despite being served formal notice in October to surrender his lease, he is likely to spend Christmas at his current residence while the rest of the royal family gathers at Sandringham.

The delay in Andrew's move is attributed to the complexity of downsizing from a large mansion to a smaller property. The Palace has cited logistical challenges in relocating two decades' worth of belongings from 30 rooms to a more modest cottage on the Sandringham Estate. While understanding the practical difficulties, there is little sympathy for Andrew's apparent strategy of prolonging the process.

Reports suggest that Andrew is demanding a substantial sum of £75,000,000 as well as a six- or seven-bedroom house on the Sandringham Estate as his replacement. He is also requesting additional staff, including a cook, a gardener, a housekeeper, and a driver, along with police protection. Despite these demands, the former Prince is expected to eventually move to Sandringham, albeit with some delay.
