Rapper Ghetts Charged with Causing Death by Dangerous Driving: A Tragic Hit-and-Run Incident in North East London

A well-known rapper and Netflix star, Ghetts, whose real name is Justin Clarke-Samuel, has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving after allegedly hitting and killing a man in a hit-and-run incident in Ilford, North East London. The 41-year-old failed to stop following the crash and also pleaded guilty to two additional charges of dangerous driving before and after the fatal collision. The rapper was driving recklessly in various locations in North London before the tragic incident occurred.
Ghetts has not yet entered pleas for causing death by careless driving while over the alcohol limit or another dangerous driving charge. It was revealed in court that he had consumed Hennessy and Coke prior to the crash. The Recorder of London, Judge Mark Lucraft, KC, stated that Ghetts is likely to face a prison sentence and he was remanded in custody until his sentencing, scheduled for February 12.
According to the prosecutor, Varinder Hayre, the victim, Yubin Tamang, was struck by Ghetts' BMW while crossing the road, resulting in significant impact that threw him into the air and caused fatal injuries. The rapper's vehicle did not stop and continued driving away from the scene. Police found the damaged BMW at Clarke-Samuel's residence the following day. Yubin, a 20-year-old student sent to the UK for education by his parents, tragically lost his life in the incident.
Clarke-Samuel, known for his collaborations with artists like Ed Sheeran, Stormzy, and Skepta, has achieved success in the music industry, winning awards such as the Mobo Pioneer Award and the best male act at the Mobo Awards in 2021. He has also been recognized for his contributions to British black culture and starred in the Netflix series "Supacell." The rapper's involvement in the hit-and-run incident has raised serious legal consequences, with a potential prison term looming over him as the case progresses.
