Sheinelle Jones Joins Jenna Bush Hager as Full-Time Co-Host on 'Today with Jenna & Friends

Sheinelle Jones has made a permanent move to "Today with Jenna & Friends" to join Jenna Bush Hager as a full-time co-host. Jones initially joined the "Weekend Today" show in 2014 before transitioning to a weekday role on the third hour of NBC's "Today" in 2019. She took a leave of absence from the show in December 2024 due to a family health matter, later revealed to be her husband's battle with glioblastoma, a form of brain cancer. Jones returned to the show in September after her husband's passing in May, describing the experience as a "beautiful nightmare."
Jones' new role alongside Bush Hager was reportedly planned before her absence, with the show waiting to see how she would be upon her return. Bush Hager, who has been with "Today" since 2009, initially started as a correspondent before co-hosting "Hoda & Jenna" with Hoda Kotb in 2019. Following Kotb's departure from NBC earlier this year, Bush Hager's show was rebranded to "Today with Jenna & Friends." In an emotional letter to Kotb on her last day, Bush Hager expressed gratitude for the support and friendship she received, ending with a message of love and pride for her departing co-host.
