Former New Jersey Elementary School Teacher Arrested on Child Sexual Abuse Charges

A former elementary school teacher from New Jersey who often played the role of Santa at various events has been arrested on charges related to child sexual abuse material. The Mercer County Prosecutor's office revealed that Mark Paulino, 64, faces multiple charges, including distribution and possession of child sexual abuse material, endangering the welfare of a child, and more.
The charges against Paulino, a retired teacher from Hamilton Township, stemmed from an investigation into online child exploitation conducted by the prosecutor's Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Unit. Detectives were alerted by the New Jersey State Police ICAC Unit about uploads of suspected child sexual abuse material by an individual in Hamilton Township.
Following an investigation, Paulino was identified as a person of interest. He had recently retired from the Hamilton Township School District and was working as a Santa character for various events involving children. Detectives obtained a warrant to search Paulino's residence due to his interactions with young children in his Santa role.
A search of Paulino's home was conducted with the assistance of various units, including the Economic Crime, Cyber Crimes, and Domestic Violence units, as well as the Hamilton Police SWAT team. Multiple pieces of evidence were seized during the search, although specific details were not disclosed as the investigation is ongoing.
Prosecutors have requested that Paulino be detained pending trial, and he has been taken into custody without any issues. Anyone with information related to the investigation is urged to contact the ICAC Unit or submit anonymous tips through the provided channels.
If you have information about potential improper online interactions with children or instances of exploitation and sexual abuse of children, you are encouraged to report it to the ICAC Unit or the New Jersey Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force tip line.
