Sporting Kansas City Signs Goalkeeper Stefan Cleveland: A New Addition to Bolster the Team

Sporting Kansas City has officially signed goalkeeper Stefan Cleveland from Austin FC in a new two-year deal through 2027. The transfer involved Austin FC receiving $50,000 in 2025 General Allocation Money (GAM). Cleveland, who previously played for Seattle Sounders FC, brings MLS experience to the team and will bolster the goalkeeper corps following the retirement of Tim Melia. He made 15 starts for Seattle in the 2021 season, showcasing his skills with a 1.13 Goals Against Average (GAA) and three clean sheets. Cleveland's collegiate background includes playing for Dartmouth College and the University of Louisville. This acquisition marks Sporting KC's first move of the winter transfer window to strengthen the team for the upcoming season.
