2025 Music Industry Highlights: Taylor Swift Dominates Charts, Rising Talents Shine, and Cardi B's Triple Platinum Success
The Recording Industry of America has revealed the top-selling albums and songs of the year, with Taylor Swift dominating the charts with her album "The Life of a Showgirl" selling over five million units. Alex Warren's single "Ordinary" achieved Triple Platinum status and was the top single of the year. The fictional group HUNTR/X from Netflix's KPop Demon Hunters, featuring EJAE, Audrey Nuna, and REI AMI, had a successful year with their songs "Golden," "How It's Done," and "What It Sounds Like" all achieving Platinum status.
RIAA President & COO Michele Ballantyne commended the rising talents who earned their first Gold & Platinum certifications in 2025, recognizing their dedication and drive to break through in the music industry. Drake led the pack with eight certified titles, including his single "Nokia" and songs from his collaborative LP with PartyNextDoor, "$ome $exy $ongs 4 U." Chappell Roan achieved Gold status with her country single "The Giver" and pop single "The Subway."
Cardi B's album "Am I The Drama?" reached Triple Platinum status, making it the second most successful LP of the year. Additionally, six albums achieved Platinum status, including Alex Warren's "You'll Be Alright, Kid," Lady Gaga's "Mayhem," and Tate McRae's "So Close To What." Taylor Swift, who recently regained control of her complete catalog, became the first female artist to sell over 100 million records.
To cap off her successful year, Swift is releasing the six-part documentary series "The End of an Era," which chronicles her 2023/24 Eras tour. The first two episodes are set to premiere on Friday. Congratulations to all the artists who achieved remarkable success in 2025!
