New Actor Cast as Chris Rodriguez in Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2
The team working on Percy Jackson and the Olympians has announced that the character of Chris Rodriguez will be portrayed by a new actor in Season 2. Kevin Chacon will now take on the role previously credited to Andrew Alvarez in Season 1. The decision to recast Chris was made to give the character a more prominent role in the upcoming season, according to the executive producers.
Co-creator Jonathan E. Steinberg revealed that Alvarez's credit as Chris in Season 1 was meant as a subtle nod to fans and not a significant role. He explained that Alvarez will still be part of the series but in a different capacity at Camp Half-Blood. Executive producer Craig Silverstein emphasized that Chris' role will be expanded in Season 2, leading to the decision to cast Kevin Chacon for the character.
Author Rick Riordan expressed his support for the change, stating that the character of Chris Rodriguez was not clearly defined in Season 1. Riordan mentioned that the recasting was necessary to fully develop the character and find the right actor for the role. The team behind the series aims to seamlessly integrate the new portrayal of Chris while continuing to build on the character introduced in the first season.
