Arizona Diamondbacks Sign Canadian Pitcher Michael Soroka to Boost Starting Rotation

The Arizona Diamondbacks have signed Canadian pitcher Michael Soroka to a one-year, $7.5 million deal. Soroka, a 28-year-old right-hander from Calgary, is set to strengthen the Diamondbacks' starting rotation. Last season, he had a 4.52 ERA in 16 starts for the Washington Nationals and the Chicago Cubs, where he primarily pitched in relief. Soroka was an All-Star in 2019 with the Atlanta Braves, boasting a 13-4 record and a 2.68 ERA. However, he suffered two Achilles tendon tears in 2020 and 2021, causing him to miss significant playing time. This signing aims to bring Soroka back to his previous form and contribute to the Diamondbacks' success.
