Riding the Wave: The New 'Point Break' TV Series on AMC

A TV remake of the 1991 thriller film "Point Break," directed by Kathryn Bigelow and starring Keanu Reeves, is in the works. The original movie, inspired by a surfing term, follows an FBI agent investigating a group of bank robbers, leading to a complex relationship with their leader, played by Patrick Swayze. Now, a television series sequel is set to air on AMC, focusing on a new heist crew connected to the Ex-Presidents gang, 35 years after the events of the original film.
The upcoming series is a collaboration between David Kalstein, Alcon Television Group, and AMC Studios. AMC secured the project in a competitive process, with Kalstein, known for his work on the Prime Video series "Butterfly," serving as the writer and executive producer. The show will also be produced by Alcon co-founders and co-CEOs Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson, along with Alcon president of television Ben Roberts.
