Four Miami Players Named to The Sporting News All-America Team for 2025 Season

Miami's offensive lineman Francis Mauigoa, defensive linemen Rueben Bain Jr. and Akheem Mesidor, and wide receiver Malachi Toney have been honored by The Sporting News by being named to the All-America Team for their outstanding performances during the 2025 season. Mauigoa and Bain received First Team honors, while Mesidor and Toney were selected for the Second Team, making it a total of four Miami players recognized by The Sporting News.
Mauigoa, a junior from Iliāili, American Samoa, was recognized for his exceptional performance in anchoring Miami's offensive line, which contributed to the team's successful rushing attack in the Atlantic Coast Conference. Bain, a junior defensive lineman from Miami, Fla., was named to the First Team for his standout season on the defensive front, earning him the ACC Defensive Player of the Year title.
Mesidor, a senior defensive lineman, received Second Team recognition for his productive season in Miami's defensive rotation, while Toney, a freshman wide receiver, was honored for his record-setting debut season with the Hurricanes. Toney led all FBS freshmen in receptions and set a new Miami freshman single-season receiving yards record.
Miami is set to face Texas A&M in the College Football Playoff, with the game scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 20, airing nationally on ABC at noon ET. The recognition by The Sporting News highlights the exceptional talent and performance of these Miami players during the 2025 season.
