Netball New Zealand CEO Jennie Wyllie Resigns: A Year of Challenges and Change
Netball New Zealand's CEO, Jennie Wyllie, has announced her resignation after a challenging year, marked by the controversial suspension of the Silver Ferns' coach. Wyllie cited the need to spend time with her family and explore new opportunities as reasons for her departure. The Netball NZ Board expressed gratitude for her 16 years of service and wished her well in her future endeavors.
During Wyllie's tenure as CEO since 2016, Netball New Zealand faced various challenges, including difficulties in securing a broadcast deal for the ANZ Premiership. The organization's reputation took a hit in September when Dame Noeline Taurua, the Silver Ferns' coach, was suspended over concerns in the high-performance environment. The saga surrounding Dame Noeline's suspension led to calls for accountability within Netball NZ.
Looking ahead, the Netball NZ Board will initiate the process of appointing a new CEO in the coming year. David Cooper will serve as the Acting CEO until a permanent replacement is found. Despite the setbacks faced by the organization in 2025, Netball New Zealand remains committed to advancing the sport and supporting its athletes.
