LeVar Woods Joins Michigan State as Assistant Head Coach: Iowa's Special Teams Coordinator's Departure and Logan Jones' All-American Honors
Iowa's long-time special teams coordinator, LeVar Woods, is leaving the program to join Michigan State as the Assistant Head Coach and Special Teams Coordinator under new head coach Pat Fitzgerald. Woods will continue coaching Iowa through the ReliaQuest Bowl on New Year's Eve. He has been leading Iowa's special teams unit since 2017, overseeing one of the most consistent and highly decorated special teams in college football. Woods expressed gratitude to the University of Iowa for shaping his life.
Logan Jones, a standout offensive lineman for Iowa, recently earned unanimous first team all-American honors. Despite facing challenges early in his college football career, Jones persevered and became a key leader on the team. He played a crucial role in guiding the elite offensive line throughout the season and has developed into a dominant force in the middle. Jones acknowledged the similarities between his and Tyler Linderbaum's careers, highlighting Linderbaum as a mentor and role model.
