Blue Jackets Acquire Forward Mason Marchment in Trade with Seattle Kraken

The Columbus Blue Jackets have made a trade with the Seattle Kraken to acquire forward Mason Marchment. In exchange, the Blue Jackets sent a 2026 fourth-round pick and a 2027 second-round pick to the Kraken. Marchment, who is 30 years old, had a productive season with the Kraken, scoring four goals and tallying 13 points in 29 games. He was previously acquired by Seattle from the Dallas Stars in June 2021 for two draft picks. Marchment, originally an undrafted free agent, signed a two-year entry-level contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs in March 2018 and made his NHL debut during the 2019-20 season. He was part of the Toronto Marlies team that won the 2018 Calder Cup.
Marchment is currently in the final season of a four-year, $18 million contract that he signed with the Stars in July 2022. The Uxbridge, Ontario native has played in 331 NHL games, scoring 80 goals and accumulating 202 points while playing for the Maple Leafs, Florida Panthers, Stars, and Kraken.
