Yo La Tengo Hanukkah Residency 2025: Night 7 Recap and Preview of Night 8

Yo La Tengo is currently in the midst of their 2025 Hanukkah residency, with Night 7 taking place on Saturday. The surprise musical opener for the night was Lucinda Williams, while Al Madrigal provided comedic entertainment. The band was joined by David Mansfield on violin and pedal steel throughout the show, performing a set that included fan favorites like "Night Falls on Hoboken," "I Feel Like Going Home," and "Our Way to Fall." The encore featured covers of Richard Hell's "Love Comes in Spurts" and The Velvet Underground's "Pale Blue Eyes," as well as a collaboration with Lucinda Williams on Ohio Express' "Yummy Yummy Yummy" and Yo La Tengo's "Tears Are In Your Eyes."

The mix CD for Night 7 was curated by Godlis, and the post-show DJ was Gaylord Fields. Proceeds from the event went to benefit Fòs Feministas. With only one night left in the residency, speculation is rife about who the surprise openers for Night 8 might be. Will it be Todd Barry, David Cross, Eugene Mirman, or perhaps Geese? Stay tuned to find out. You can catch up on all the coverage of Yo La Tengo's Hanukkah 2025 shows on our website.
