Costume Lending Company Sues Kevin Costner and Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 2 Producers for Breach of Contract

A costume lending company has filed a lawsuit against actor Kevin Costner and the producers of the film Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 2 for breach of contract, seeking over $400,000 in damages. The lawsuit alleges that Costner and his co-defendants failed to make timely payments for the rented costumes, accumulating a bill of $134,256.82. The complaint states that the costumes were used in the film, but the producers did not pay the invoices, resulting in the legal action.
The lawsuit seeks more than $350,000 in damages, including the unpaid costume rentals and economic damages. Additionally, the Western Costume Leasing Company is requesting $200,000 in attorney's fees and $40,000 in accrued interest on the outstanding bills. Punitive damages of $100,000 are also being sought, along with any further relief deemed appropriate by the court. Costner and the Western Costume Leasing Company have not yet commented on the lawsuit.
Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 2 is the second part of Costner's Western film series, featuring a star-studded cast. Despite the delay in its theatrical release, the film was screened at prestigious film festivals. Costner invested a significant amount of his own money in the production of the films, emphasizing his commitment to his beliefs and the projects he undertakes. However, securing funding for the final two installments of the Horizon saga has proven challenging for Costner.
In a separate lawsuit earlier this year, stunt performer Devyn LaBella accused Costner of directing an unscripted and violent rape scene during the filming of Horizon. Costner vehemently denied the allegations, stating that the claims were false and disappointing. The legal proceedings surrounding the making of the Horizon films have added complexity to the production process and the reputation of those involved.
As legal battles continue to unfold, the future of the Horizon film series remains uncertain. The financial and legal challenges faced by Costner and the production team highlight the complexities of the entertainment industry and the risks associated with ambitious film projects. The outcome of the lawsuit against Costner and the producers will determine the impact on the ongoing production and release of the Horizon films.
