Mark Fielden: A Decade of Music Fundraisers for Lingen Davies Cancer Support

Mark Fielden has been organizing music fundraisers for almost a decade to support Shropshire’s Lingen Davies Cancer Support. Over the years, he has raised over £22,000, won awards, written a book, and received support from rock legend Jon Bon Jovi. His upcoming event, The Last Dance, will mark his ninth and final fundraiser at The Inn on the Green in Shrewsbury on February 7.

Mark's fundraising journey began in 2016 as a way to give back to the charity that supported his mother, Margaret, during her battle with breast cancer. Despite Margaret's passing, Mark continued the events in her memory with the support of his family. His efforts have been recognized with awards such as the Errol Williams award in 2020 and the 'Community Ambassador of the Year' nomination in 2022/23.

The eighth Chords Crush Cancer event in February 2024 coincided with the release of Mark's book, "Memories of Margaret," which chronicles his experiences growing up with his mother, supporting her through cancer, and his fundraising journey. The event also won the 'Community Champion' award at the Shropshire Music Awards and Mark was honored with the Fundraiser Award in the BBC Make A Difference Awards in October 2025.

Mark describes these achievements as "truly special and humbling," highlighting the opportunity to raise awareness about the important work of Lingen Davies Cancer Support and continue raising essential funds for those in need. The success of his events and the impact of his fundraising efforts have opened new doors for Mark to share the cancer message and support the cause further.
