2025 Trends: Children's Pocket Money Soars, Savings Goals Shift, and Giving Back Grows

Children's pocket money has seen a significant increase in 2025, with an average weekly allowance of £10.73, up by eight percent from the previous year. This data comes from research conducted by a money app, which also revealed that the highest-earning chore for children this year was taking care of plants, with an average payout of £1.91. Other popular chores included being good (£1.46) and practicing music (£1.44).
The most common savings goal for children was for a holiday, followed by electronics. Additionally, young savers using the app raised £88,000 for the NSPCC between January 1 and November 1, 2025. GoHenry founder Louise Hill expressed delight in seeing children not only receiving increased pocket money but also learning the value of earning, saving, and giving back. This trend reflects a strong sense of self-care and altruism among children today.
