Jerry Cantrell, the guitarist of Alice in Chains, received a garage full of equipment from Eddie Van Halen after the two bonded during Van Halen's For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge Tour in the early 1990s. Cantrell met the guitar legend just before going on stage for their first show together, which left him in awe. Throughout the tour, Cantrell and Van Halen became close, jamming backstage and discussing gear, with Cantrell admiring the Peavey 5150 amps and Ernie Ball Music Man EVH signature model guitars that Van Halen used on tour. Cantrell even asked if he could buy one at a discount, but Van Halen insisted on giving him a guitar instead.

When the tour ended in 1992, Cantrell returned home to find out that his manager had to ask him to clear out his belongings from the garage because it was filled with guitars, amp heads, and cabs gifted by Eddie Van Halen.
