Remembering Annette Dionne: The Last Surviving Sister of the Famous Dionne Quintuplets

Annette Dionne, the last surviving sister of the famous Dionne Quintuplets, passed away at the age of 91 in Beloeil, Quebec. Born on May 28, 1934, the quintuplets gained worldwide attention for being the first set of quintuplets to survive infancy, with a combined weight of 13 pounds, six ounces at birth. Annette, along with her sisters, became global sensations, attracting visitors from all over the world to Quintland to see them.
Carlo Tarini, a family spokesman, confirmed Annette's death, citing complications of Alzheimer's disease as the cause. Annette was known for being the first to crawl, cut a tooth, and recognize her name among the quintuplets. After leaving Ontario, the Dionne Quintuplets made Montreal their home, where they established their roots.
The Dionne sisters' lives took different paths as they grew older. Emelie passed away in 1954 at the age of 20, while Marie died in 1970 at 36 after battling depression. Cécile and Yvonne pursued careers in nursing, with Yvonne eventually becoming a librarian. Annette and Cécile both married, had children, and later divorced. Annette briefly owned a flower shop and enjoyed playing the piano. Cécile sadly passed away in July in Montreal.
