West Michigan Weather Alert: Heavy Rain, Flash Freeze, and Winter Storm Watch Ahead

Get ready for some significant weather changes in West Michigan as heavy rain is expected today, with some areas receiving 1-2 inches of rain. There is a Winter Weather Advisory in place for early Sunday, particularly for areas northeast of Grand Rapids, due to the possibility of freezing rain. Sunday's weather is predicted to be mostly rainy with temperatures nearing 50 degrees. However, as the evening progresses and into the night, temperatures will drop drastically, potentially causing a "Flash Freeze" on wet surfaces. Snow is anticipated to arrive early Monday morning along with strong winds. A Winter Storm Watch has been issued for Sunday night through Monday evening, warning of several inches of snow and strong winds, making travel difficult on Monday. The cold air is expected to linger in West Michigan through the following week, bringing snow showers and highs in the 20s.

Tonight, there is a possibility of a "Flash Freeze" as temperatures plummet into the 20s. Snow is expected to start falling early Monday morning, with a Winter Storm Watch beginning late Sunday evening. Winds will shift to the west-southwest at 15-25 mph. Monday will see widespread snow and gusty winds, with near blizzard conditions at times and temperatures in the low 20s. Tuesday and Wednesday will be cold with a few snow showers, with highs in the mid-20s. New Year's Day will be very cold, with highs in the low 20s and lows in the mid-teens. Friday and Saturday will be mostly cloudy, with highs in the low to upper 20s.
