Close Call: Small Plane Crash in DeKalb County Narrowly Avoids Homes

A small plane crash occurred in DeKalb County, narrowly avoiding homes due to engine trouble just miles from the runway. The incident took place on Sudbury Road after neighbors reported hearing unusual noises before the crash. Roxy Barlow, a resident, described waking up to the sound of a failing engine and then hearing crashing noises like trees breaking. The twin-engine Beechcraft was flying from Miami to DeKalb-Peachtree Airport when it hit pine trees about 80 to 90 feet up and came down between two houses. Fortunately, no structures were involved, and the two people on board were able to walk away from the crash. The FAA will investigate the cause of the incident.
