USC Trojans Prepare for Alamo Bowl Showdown: Key Players Out, Young Talent Steps Up

USC is gearing up to face TCU in the Alamo Bowl to wrap up the 2025 season. The Trojans will be missing key players due to various reasons, including opt-outs, transfers, and injuries. This presents an opportunity for young players to make an impact before the offseason begins.
Waymond Jordan, who recently announced his return for the 2026 season, is unlikely to play in the bowl game due to an ankle injury. With Bryan Jackson and Harry Dalton entering the transfer portal, King Miller will lead the Trojans' running game, supported by freshmen Riley Wormley and James Johnson.
The wide receiver and tight end positions will also see changes, with Makai Lemon and Ja'Kobi Lane moving on to the NFL. Freshman Tanook Hines will step up as a top target for quarterback Jayden Maiava, alongside Zacharyus Williams, Jaden Richardson, and Corey Simms.
Taniela 'Nela' Tupou is expected to take on the role of the Trojans' primary tight end, filling the void left by Lake McRee and Walker Lyons. Injuries will sideline Elijah Paige and Kilian O'Connor, leaving USC to rely on their depth and adaptability on the offensive line.
Defensively, USC will be without standout freshman Jahkeem Stewart, who is recovering from a season-long stress fracture. With Anthony Lucas injured and Devon Thompkins transferring, new players like Floyd Boucard and Jadyn Ramos will step up to provide support on the defensive line.
Linebacker Eric Gentry's departure for the draft opens up opportunities for Desman Stephens and Jadyn Walker to start inside, with Elijah Newby and Ta'Mere Robinson ready to contribute off the bench. Despite the challenges, the Trojans are prepared to face TCU in the Alamo Bowl with a mix of experienced and young talent.
