South Alabama Jaguars Eye Todd Orlando as New Defensive Coordinator to Revamp Defense
South Alabama Jaguars are looking to hire Todd Orlando as their new defensive coordinator. Orlando, who has extensive experience as a defensive coordinator at various schools, including Texas and USC, previously worked with South Alabama head coach Major Applewhite at Houston. The Jaguars had a disappointing 4-8 season in 2025 after making three consecutive bowl game appearances. The team's former defensive coordinator, Will Windham, resigned in December, and Orlando could bring a fresh perspective to the defense, which allowed an average of 30.4 points per game last season.
Orlando's potential arrival at South Alabama comes after the team added 27 new players during the early signing period, including three-star recruits like offensive lineman Artem Korchagin, safety Tomareo Johnson, and quarterback Aaden Shamburger. The Jaguars' recruiting class is ranked No. 72 nationally and No. 4 in the Sun Belt conference. With the transfer portal set to open soon, South Alabama will have the opportunity to further strengthen their roster under Orlando's leadership.
