Blount County Sheriff James Lee Berrong announced that a 24-year-old man from Lenoir City, Dalton Michael Bowman, has been charged with two felony warrants and additional charges related to an accident that resulted in the death of Blount County Deputy Justin Mowery. Bowman, a prior convicted felon, was arrested in Louisville on a warrant from Loudon County and is currently held without bond at the Loudon County Correctional Facility. He will face charges in Blount County at a later date.
Deputy Mowery reported to dispatch about a motorcyclist driving recklessly on Miser Station Road and attempted to stop the motorcyclist, who refused to comply. Bowman admitted to knowing that Deputy Mowery was trying to stop him as he fled. Sheriff Berrong expressed relief and gratitude for the investigators' efforts in making an arrest and bringing some justice to Deputy Mowery's family. Various law enforcement agencies, including the Maryville Police Department, Alcoa Police Department, and others, assisted in the investigation.
