The Carolina Hurricanes have acquired defenseman Juuso Valimaki from the Utah Mammoth in exchange for future considerations, as announced by General Manager Eric Tulsky. Valimaki, a native of Tampere, Finland, has recorded 72 points (11 goals, 61 assists) in 271 NHL games with Calgary, Arizona, and Utah. He has also played in the AHL with Stockton and Tucson, accumulating 35 points (7 goals, 28 assists) in 59 games. Additionally, Valimaki has experience in Finland's Liiga and the WHL with Tri-City, where he was named to the WHL West Second All-Star Team in 2017 and 2018.

In the current AHL season, Valimaki has posted three points (1 goal, 2 assists) in three games with Tucson. Standing at 6'2" and weighing 201 pounds, the defenseman has showcased his skills on various international stages, representing Finland in multiple IIHF tournaments. Valimaki was a first-round pick (16th overall) by the Calgary Flames in the 2017 NHL Draft, demonstrating his potential as a valuable asset on the ice.
