NVIDIA Rumored to Resume Production of GeForce RTX 3060 GPUs Amid DRAM Shortages

NVIDIA is rumored to resume production of its GeForce RTX 3060 GPUs due to DRAM shortages. The original lineup, released in 2021, remains popular among gamers, and NVIDIA may reopen production for this GPU. According to a reliable source, NVIDIA has informed its partners that the RTX 3060 will be back in Q1 2026. It is unclear whether both the 12 GB and 8 GB models will be produced, but the RTX 3060 will be available for purchase once again.

The DRAM shortages have significantly impacted consumer GPUs, with the RTX 5060 using GDDR7 memory. Rising DRAM costs could affect the pricing and supply of the RTX 5060, as sourcing the memory has become challenging. NVIDIA will need to provide alternatives to its partners for the 60-series product family, designed for mass consumption.

The GeForce RTX 3060 was available in both 12 GB (192-bit) and 8 GB (128-bit) versions. While the 12 GB variant was well-received, the 8 GB model faced criticism. If NVIDIA reintroduces the RTX 3060, it should be priced attractively below $200 US to appeal to gamers.
