Be Afraid Media Acquires Dread Central: A New Era in Horror Media

Brad Miska, co-founder of the horror website Bloody Disgusting, recently sold the site and has now returned to the horror genre as the owner of Dread Central, a competitor to his former site. Along with Heather and Peter Luttrell, former co-owners of Bloody Disgusting, Miska has launched Be Afraid Media, an independent horror media company. The acquisition of Dread Central marks the official launch of the new company.
Dread Central, founded in 2006, has been a trusted voice in horror for nearly two decades, covering horror film, television, and culture. Despite its credibility, the site has faced financial challenges in the past. Be Afraid Media's acquisition of Dread Central includes the FAST horror channel DreadTV and a streaming distribution agreement with Epic Pictures. Epic CEO Patrick Ewald will also join Be Afraid Media's Board of Directors.
Be Afraid Media's portfolio, including Dread Central, will reach an audience of over 16 million fans across various platforms. Miska, who co-founded Bloody Disgusting in 2001, brings his experience as a producer to the new venture. The company's focus is on revitalizing its FAST channel, building a podcast network, and expanding into live events, merchandise, production, and distribution within the horror ecosystem.
One of Dread Central's co-founders, Jon Condit, expressed confidence in the new ownership, stating that they are well-equipped to lead Dread Central into its next era. The goal of Be Afraid Media is to become the most beloved and trusted brand in horror by acquiring key genre assets and developing new original IP internally.
