Exciting Lineup Revealed for Glasgow Film Festival 2026: From Dawn Raids to California Dreams

The Glasgow Film Festival (GFF) will kick off on February 26 with the UK premiere of Felipe Bustos Sierra’s documentary Everybody To Kenmure Street. The film captures the events of a UK Home Office dawn raid in the diverse neighborhood of Pollokshields in May 2021, where residents came together to prevent the deportation of their neighbors. The documentary will have its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival and is produced by Ciara Barry of barry crerar, in association with Bustos Sierra through Debasers Films. Emma Thompson serves as an executive producer, and the film will be released in UK-Ireland cinemas on March 13 by Conic.
James McAvoy’s directorial debut California Schemin’ will close the festival on March 8. The film, based on a true story, follows an aspiring Scottish rap duo who pose as Californian hip hop artists to secure a record deal. Produced by Danny Page of Blazing Griffin, the film received backing from Screen Scotland. McAvoy, who received an honorary award at the 2025 GFF event, brings his directorial talent to this exciting project.
