Former Mets Star Lenny Dykstra Faces Drug Possession Charges After Traffic Stop

TMZ Sports has recently uncovered more information about a traffic stop involving former Mets star Lenny Dykstra on New Year's Day. Pennsylvania State Police reported that during the stop, Dykstra, who was a passenger in the vehicle, opened the glove box and revealed what appeared to be a container holding suspected crack-cocaine/methamphetamine and a glass smoking device with suspected drug residue.

Although the substances were not field-tested at the scene, Dykstra has been charged with misdemeanor possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia. His lawyer, Matthew Blit, is confident that Dykstra will be cleared of the charges, stating that the narcotics did not belong to Dykstra, who is currently recovering from a stroke and was not knowingly in possession of any drugs.

While Dykstra was not taken into custody during the incident, the driver of the vehicle was arrested and faced multiple charges, including being under the influence. Dykstra's legal team, led by attorney Tom Mincer, is dedicated to clearing Dykstra of all possession charges.

Lenny Dykstra, known as the "Dude" and "Nails," had a successful career in Major League Baseball from 1985 to 1996, playing for the Mets and the Philadelphia Phillies. Despite his achievements, Dykstra's legacy has been overshadowed by his well-documented struggles with substance abuse. Additionally, he served time in federal prison in the early 2010s for fraud and money laundering.
