2026 DGA Awards Nominees: TV, Documentary, and Commercials

The Directors Guild of America has unveiled the nominees for the 2026 DGA Awards in the categories of TV, documentary, and commercials. The film and first-time feature director nominees will be announced later. The 78th annual DGA Awards ceremony is scheduled for Feb. 7. Here is a list of this year's nominees in the TV, documentary, and commercial categories.

In the Dramatic Series category, the nominees for Outstanding Directorial Achievement are Liza Johnson for "The Diplomat," Amanda Marsalis for "The Pitt," Janus Metz for "Andor," Ben Stiller for "Severance," and John Wells for "The Pitt."

For the Comedy Series category, the nominees for Outstanding Directorial Achievement are Lucia Aniello for "Hacks," Janicza Bravo for "The Bear," Seth Rogen & Evan Goldberg for "The Studio," Christopher Storer for "The Bear," and Mike White for "The White Lotus."

In the Limited & Anthology Series category, the nominees for Outstanding Directorial Achievement are Jason Bateman for "Black Rabbit," Antonio Campos for "The Beast in Me," Lesli Linka Glatter for "Zero Day," Shannon Murphy for "Dying for Sex," and Ally Pankiw for "Black Mirror."

The Movies for Television category features nominees for Outstanding Directorial Achievement, including Jesse Armstrong for "Mountainhead," Stephen Chbosky for "Nonnas," Scott Derrickson for "The Gorge," Michael Morris for "Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy," and Kyle Newacheck for "Happy Gilmore 2."

In the Variety category, the nominees for Outstanding Directorial Achievement are Yvonne Demare for "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert," Andy Fisher for "Jimmy Kimmel Live!," Beth McCarthy-Miller for "SNL50: The Homecoming Concert," Liz Patrick for "SNL50: The Anniversary Special," and Paul Pennolino for "Last Week Tonight with John Oliver."

The Sports category features nominees for Outstanding Directorial Achievement, including Matthew Gangl for the 2025 World Series, Steve Milton for the 2025 Masters Tournament, and Rich Russo for Super Bowl LIX.

For the Reality/Quiz and Game category, the nominees for Outstanding Directorial Achievement are Lucinda M. Margolis for "Jeopardy!," Adam Sandler for "The Price is Right," and Mike Sweeney for "Conan O'Brien Must Go."

In the Commercials category, the nominees for Outstanding Directorial Achievement are Kim Gehrig for "You Can't Win. The Documentary Film category features nominees for Outstanding Directorial Achievement, including Mstyslav Chernov for "2000 Meters to Andriivka," Geeta Gandbhir for "The Perfect Neighbor," Sara Khaki and Mohammadreza Eyni for "Cutting Through Rocks," Elizabeth Lo for "Mistress Dispeller," and Laura Poitras and Mark Obenhaus for "Cover-Up."

In the Documentary Series/News category, the nominees for Outstanding Directorial Achievement are Marshall Curry for "SNL50: Beyond Saturday Night," Susan Lacy and Jessica Levin for "Billy Joel: And So It Goes," Rebecca Miller for "Mr. Scorsese," Alexandria Stapleton for "Sean Combs: The Reckoning," and Matt Wolf for "Pee-Wee as Himself."

The DGA Awards will honor the outstanding achievements in directing across various categories, recognizing the talent and creativity of directors in the industry.
