Second Season of TGL Maintains Strong Television Ratings Amidst Tough Competition

The second season of TGL, an indoor team golf league co-founded by Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy, has maintained steady television ratings compared to last year's viewership numbers. The season opener on Dec. 28 attracted 646,000 viewers on ABC, while the second match on Jan. 2 drew 354,000 viewers, resulting in an average audience of 500,000, slightly below the inaugural season's average of 513,000. The Dec. 28 match coincided with Week 17 of the NFL season, competing with football action, while the Jan. 2 match marked the league's first Friday night primetime broadcast, with a 17% increase in viewership compared to last season's average on ESPN2. Moving forward, eight of the remaining 12 regular-season matches will be broadcast on ESPN, with the other four on ESPN2. The most-watched TGL match to date remains Tiger Woods's debut for Jupiter Links Golf Club last year, which attracted over 1 million viewers on ESPN.
