Fake Lawyer on TikTok Jailed for Fatal Crash: The Downfall of Leigh Sutherland

A man who portrayed himself as a road traffic lawyer on TikTok has been sentenced to jail for causing a fatal crash. Leigh Sutherland was driving recklessly in an old Ford Mondeo with faulty brakes when he collided with a Peugeot 108 driven by Margaret Allan on the Condorrat Ring Road near Cumbernauld, Lanarkshire. The crash resulted in the death of the 77-year-old woman and injuries to a young passenger. Despite trying to shift blame onto the victim, Sutherland was convicted of causing death by dangerous driving after a trial at the High Court in Glasgow. He received a nine-year prison sentence and a driving ban of over 13 years. Sutherland's social media presence on TikTok, where he posted videos pretending to be a lawyer and other characters, did not prevent him from facing the consequences of his actions.
