Riders on the Storm: The Doors' Classic Reimagined in a Global Collaboration

Fifty-five years after the release of the iconic song "Riders on the Storm" by The Doors, band members John Densmore and Robby Krieger have reunited to collaborate with musicians from around the world for Playing For Change's Songs Around The World project. The new rendition of the song features artists like Lukas Nelson, Micah Nelson, Don Was, Rami Jaffee, Sierra Ferrell, and Aaron White, with the video directed by Mark Johnson.
Densmore praised Lukas Nelson for his vocal performance, stating that he did justice to Jim Morrison's legacy, while Krieger commended the unity displayed by musicians from diverse backgrounds coming together for the project. The video also showcases talents like William Barton, Boboulaye Sissokho, Macarena Montesinos, and others, adding unique elements to the song.
Don Was, who played bass on the recording, highlighted the groove and swagger of The Doors' music, emphasizing the band's timeless appeal. Playing For Change has a history of collaborating with music legends, accumulating billions of views on YouTube with covers of songs like "Fly Like An Eagle" and "No Woman No Cry."
While The Doors celebrated their 60th anniversary recently, Densmore has taken a step back from touring, but Krieger continues to honor the band's legacy through live performances. Krieger will be hosting a special 80th birthday show at the Whisky a Go Go in Los Angeles on March 28, showcasing the enduring influence of The Doors' music.
