Iman Honors David Bowie with New Tattoo Commemorating 10th Anniversary

Iman, the widow of David Bowie, recently got a new tattoo to commemorate the 10th anniversary of her husband's passing. Today marks a decade since Bowie died after a private battle with cancer. The news of his death came just two days after the release of his final album, 'Blackstar.' Iman shared a video on Instagram showing her new tattoo, which features minimalist rune-like shapes from the album cover spelling out 'BOWIE.'

The tattoo was inspired by the iconic artwork of Bowie's final album, 'Blackstar,' designed by Jonathan Barnbrook. Iman expressed her love for Bowie and the lasting impact he had on her life through the tattoo. She also paid tribute to Bowie on what would have been his 79th birthday by sharing a black and white photo of them together.

Barnbrook, who designed all of Bowie's album covers from 'Heathen' onwards, described the 'Blackstar' artwork as a representation of the music's darkness and simplicity. The British Library will host an event later this month to honor Bowie, with guests like Jehnny Beth and Tony Visconti in attendance. Bowie's legacy continues to be celebrated through documentaries and the restoration of his childhood home in Bromley, South London.
