Jonathan Majors and Meagan Good Embrace Guinea: A Journey of Ancestral Discovery and Citizenship

Jonathan Majors and Meagan Good have recently obtained citizenship in Guinea after discovering their ancestral roots in the West African nation through DNA testing. The couple traveled to Guinea for a private cultural ceremony organized by the Ministry of Culture, where they were granted citizenship. The event, held at Gbassi Kolo, a cultural and tourism center near Conakry, featured traditional music and dance performances showcasing Guinean heritage. Guinea’s Minister Djiba Diakité presented the passports on behalf of President Mamadi Doumbouya, emphasizing the couple's role as ambassadors for the country.

For Majors, known for his roles in Creed and Marvel’s Ant-Man franchise, the citizenship ceremony held significant personal meaning. He expressed the importance of bridging the gap between their work in entertainment and their connection to the African diaspora. Good, on the other hand, described the experience as both grounding and emotional, highlighting that it was her first visit to Guinea. The couple shared their intention to establish a long-term connection with Guinea, envisioning the country as a potential future home where they can spend meaningful time.

The couple's journey to Guinea began with a warm welcome at Conakry’s Gbessia International Airport, where they were greeted by officials and musicians and presented with kola nuts. Their itinerary includes a visit to Boké, a coastal region with historical ties to the transatlantic slave trade, as part of a broader cultural and historical tour. While their plans for investment or permanent relocation remain uncertain, Majors and Good expressed a genuine desire to deepen their connection to Guinea and contribute to its cultural heritage.
