Kelly Clarkson Finds Comfort in Family Bonding After Ex-Husband's Passing

Kelly Clarkson recently shared that she has been finding comfort in letting her two children, River Rose and Remington “Remy” Alexander, sleep with her more often since the passing of her ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock. She expressed that morning snuggles with her kids bring her joy, especially at this stage where they are still young enough to enjoy cuddling. Clarkson mentioned that amidst recent family challenges, having her kids and dogs sleep with her has been a special bonding time filled with cute conversations.

In addition to the cozy family moments, Clarkson revealed that she and her children spent New Year’s Day hiking and walking on the beach. The singer-songwriter and Blackstock, who were married from 2013 to 2022, have been co-parenting their children. Blackstock sadly passed away in August 2025 after a private battle with melanoma at the age of 48. Clarkson had briefly taken a break from “The Kelly Clarkson Show” in early 2025 to support Blackstock during his illness.

Despite their divorce, Clarkson still held deep feelings for Blackstock and prioritized caring for him and their children during his health struggles. The singer had to cancel the remainder of her Las Vegas residency to be with her family during this difficult time. The loss of Blackstock has brought Clarkson and her children closer together, creating precious moments of togetherness and support during this challenging period.
