Timothy Busfield's Guest Appearance on Law & Order: SVU Pulled Amid Allegations of Unlawful Sexual Conduct with Minors

Timothy Busfield, known for his role in The West Wing, was set to appear as a guest star on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, but the episode has been pulled. This decision comes after an arrest warrant was issued by the Albuquerque Police Department, alleging that Busfield engaged in unlawful sexual conduct with twin 11-year-old boys. The minors, who were child actors on the FOX series The Cleaning Lady, met Busfield while he was directing the show. The allegations surfaced after a doctor at the University of New Mexico Hospital reported possible sexual abuse to the police.

The investigation into Busfield began in November 2024, following concerns raised by the minors' father about Busfield's behavior. The children initially mentioned that Busfield would tickle them, but the case was not pursued at that time. However, in September 2025, one of the victims disclosed to his counselor that Busfield had inappropriately touched him. The therapist diagnosed the child with post-traumatic stress disorder and anxiety, attributing it to the alleged abuse by Busfield.

The warrant details instances where Busfield allegedly touched the victims inappropriately and engaged in behavior that made them uncomfortable. The victims reported feeling scared and ashamed, leading to behavioral issues such as bed-wetting and nightmares. Despite the allegations, Busfield claimed that his interactions with the boys were playful and denied any malicious intent. Warner Bros. conducted an internal investigation into the matter and found evidence supporting the victims' claims.

The production assistant on the set also raised concerns about Busfield being alone with one of the minors in inappropriate settings. The warrant describes an incident where Busfield kissed a minor on the face in the Hair and Make-Up trailer, further highlighting the inappropriate behavior alleged by the victims. Officer Brown, who handled the case, expressed concerns about Busfield's actions, suggesting that he may have exploited his role as a producer to engage in inappropriate conduct with the victims.

In light of the allegations and the ongoing investigation, Warner Bros. emphasized the importance of prioritizing the safety of minors on their productions. The company stated that they take all allegations of misconduct seriously and are cooperating with law enforcement to address the situation. The decision to pull Busfield's episode from Law & Order: Special Victims Unit reflects the seriousness of the allegations and the need to ensure a safe working environment for all involved.
