Tom Hardy's Future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe: What Lies Ahead for Venom?

Fans of Venom may be disappointed to hear that Tom Hardy's return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) might not be in the cards. Despite playing Eddie Brock/Venom in Sony Pictures' Venom movies, which are part of Sony's Spider-Man Universe, there are no concrete plans for Hardy's character to continue in that universe. The possibility of Eddie permanently relocating to the MCU has been speculated, especially after Venom seemingly met his end in Venom: The Last Dance.

While the presence of the Venom symbiote in Spider-Man: Brand New Day has not been officially confirmed by Marvel or Sony, there are hints that it might make an appearance. Actor Michael Mando, who plays Scorpion, has teased the symbiote's involvement on social media. Additionally, some fans believe that Tom Holland's Peter Parker may bond with the Venom symbiote in Avengers: Secret Wars, drawing inspiration from the original Secret Wars comic series.

With a small piece of Venom left behind in the MCU's Sacred Timeline, Marvel Studios could potentially use the symbiote without directly involving Tom Hardy. However, since Hardy also voices Venom in the previous movies, a recasting of the role may be necessary if the symbiote is to have speaking lines in future MCU appearances. Spider-Man: Brand New Day is set to release on July 31, 2026.
