Behind the Scenes with Nikki Glaser: Golden Globe Hosting, Jokes, and More

Fresh from hosting the Golden Globe Awards for the second year in a row, comedian Nikki Glaser made an appearance on The Howard Stern Show to talk about the recent ceremony, her babysitting stint for Judd Apatow, and the jokes that didn't make it to the show, including one from Steve Martin. Glaser received praise for her entertaining and witty performance, managing to entertain the audience, keep the show moving, and cater to various interests while avoiding political commentary. She explained that jokes about the current political climate were intentionally omitted as they didn't feel appropriate or funny given the circumstances.

Glaser shared with Stern that even mentioning the sitting president's name was considered too political for the show. She revealed that a joke about the "Trump Beverly Hilton" was scrapped, emphasizing the need to give space and avoid trivializing sensitive topics. Despite receiving a joke from Steve Martin about the same subject, Glaser decided not to use it after Martin advised her against it for similar reasons. The comedian also included a jab at CBS in her monologue, referencing the network's recent editorial decisions.

During the interview, Glaser delved into her personal life, career, and upcoming projects, including a movie collaboration with Judd Apatow. She reminisced about babysitting for Apatow years ago and expressed admiration for his work ethic and dedication to his craft. Glaser concluded the interview by sharing some of the jokes that were cut from her hosting gig, showcasing her sharp wit and humor that didn't make it to the televised show.

Currently, Glaser is performing a residency in Las Vegas at the Venetian Hotel and Casino alongside David Spade.
