James Laurinaitis: Ohio State Legend Inducted into College Football Hall of Fame

Ohio State University's renowned linebacker, James Laurinaitis, has been selected for induction into the College Football Hall of Fame for the class of 2026. Laurinaitis, who played for the Buckeyes from 2005 to 2008, is recognized as one of the most accomplished defensive players in college football history. During his time at Ohio State, he amassed impressive statistics, including 159 tackles, 13 sacks, and nine interceptions. Laurinaitis received several prestigious awards, such as the Butkus and Nagurski awards, in addition to being named the Big Ten defensive player of the year twice. He was also a unanimous All-American in 2007 and a two-time consensus All-American.

As the 29th Ohio State player to be inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame, Laurinaitis has left a lasting legacy at the university. Following his successful college career, he went on to play in the NFL for eight seasons with the St. Louis Rams and New Orleans Saints. Laurinaitis started in 115 games and led the league in solo tackles in 2012 with 117.
