Justice for Spencer and Monique Tepe: Ex-Husband Charged with Aggravated Murder

The recent tragic murders of Ohio dentist Spencer Tepe and his wife Monique Tepe have shocked the community. The couple was found shot to death in their Columbus home on December 30. Fortunately, their two young children were unharmed during the incident. Police ruled out murder-suicide and found no signs of forced entry at the scene, sparking a nationwide search for a suspect.
After an extensive investigation, Monique Tepe's ex-husband, Michael McKee, was charged with the murders. McKee, 39, was arrested in Illinois and initially charged with two counts of murder. Subsequently, his charges were upgraded to premeditated aggravated murder, which carries severe penalties in Ohio, including life imprisonment or the death penalty.
McKee and Monique Tepe were previously married but divorced in 2017. The motive behind the attack remains unclear. McKee is currently in custody in Winnebago County Jail in Illinois and has agreed to be extradited to Ohio to face the charges. Columbus Police Chief Elaine Bryant stated that McKee is believed to be the person responsible for the targeted attack on the Tepes.
Evidence linking McKee to the crime includes surveillance footage showing his vehicle arriving and leaving the neighborhood around the time of the murders. Additionally, multiple weapons were recovered from McKee's property, with one weapon preliminarily linked to the homicides through ballistics analysis. The police have not received any prior reports involving McKee and the Tepe family in Columbus.
Following McKee's arrest, the Tepe family expressed gratitude for the community's support and requested prayers during this difficult time. While nothing can bring back Monique and Spencer Tepe, the family sees McKee's arrest as a step towards justice for their loved ones. The City of Columbus Police Department and other law enforcement agencies were commended for their relentless efforts in apprehending the suspect.
