Amol Rajan Announces Departure from BBC Radio 4's Today Program to Launch Own Company

Amol Rajan, the presenter of BBC Radio 4's Today programme, has announced his departure to start his own company. He will still be involved with the BBC through hosting University Challenge and the Radical podcast. Rajan expressed his excitement about entering the digital creator economy. The BBC has not yet named his replacement on Today, their flagship radio news show. Rajan has been with Today for nearly five years, taking over from John Humphrys. Prior to Today, he was the media editor for BBC News and guest presented on various BBC programs.
Rajan praised the Today team and his Amol Rajan Interviews series on BBC Two but stated his eagerness to pursue entrepreneurship in the digital realm. He emphasized that he is not leaving the BBC entirely and appreciates its cultural significance. Today editor Owenna Griffiths and Radio 4 controller acknowledged Rajan's talent and contributions to the program. Rajan's replacement on Today will be announced in the future. His departure follows Mishal Husain and Martha Kearney, with Anna Foster and Emma Barnett taking over their roles. The other presenters on Today are Justin Webb and Nick Robinson.
