Selena Quintanilla: A Tribute to a Music and Fashion Icon

The GRAMMY Museum pays tribute to Corpus Christi's own Selena Quintanilla with a special pop-up exhibition highlighting her impact on music, fashion, and culture. This limited-time display, the first of Selena's personal items outside of the Selena Museum in Corpus Christi, is hosted in Los Angeles, California, until March 16. Created in collaboration with her sister, Suzette Quintanilla, the exhibit provides an intimate glimpse into Selena's life and career.

Selena's legacy transcends her chart-topping music, as she is recognized as a fashion pioneer who continues to influence pop culture with her iconic stage ensembles, vibrant red lipstick, and unique style. Her pride in her Mexican-American roots made her a symbol of empowerment for young women and Latino communities worldwide. The exhibit showcases various items, including the outfit from the Amor Prohibido album cover, her white beaded gown from the 1994 GRAMMY Awards®, her GRAMMY and Lifetime Achievement Awards, family-played instruments, her lipstick-marked microphone, hand-drawn fashion sketches, and her personal cell phone.

This exhibition celebrates the enduring impact of a Corpus Christi icon whose influence resonates with generations globally. To explore more about this exhibit, visit the official website.
