Sir Brian May Expresses Concerns About Sam Mendes' Beatles Biopics: A Closer Look at the Upcoming Films

Sir Brian May has expressed concerns about Sam Mendes' upcoming four films about The Beatles, fearing they may create a sense of competition among the band members. Mendes is working on The Beatles – A Four-Film Cinematic Event, which will explore the rise and fall of the iconic band from each member's perspective. The cast includes Harris Dickinson as John Lennon, Paul Mescal as Paul McCartney, Joseph Quinn as George Harrison, and Barry Keoghan as Ringo Starr. May, a devoted Beatles fan, worries that the films may overshadow the importance of certain band members.
May, known for his work with Queen, has no interest in pursuing further movie or TV projects about his band. He believes that the 2018 biopic Bohemian Rhapsody, starring Rami Malek as Freddie Mercury, was a fitting tribute to the late singer and the band. May expressed his pride in the film and its portrayal of Freddie, emphasizing that it was done for him, not for the band.
The four Beatles biopics are scheduled for release in April 2028. Actors Paul Mescal, Barry Keoghan, and Harris Dickinson were recently spotted in Liverpool, where they were seen dining at a popular restaurant. The actors seemed to be enjoying their time in the city, with Mescal expressing his enthusiasm for the visit. Speculation suggests that their trip to Liverpool may be related to their roles in the upcoming Beatles films.
The cast of the biopics includes Mia Mckenna-Bruce as Ringo Starr's first wife, Maureen Starkey, and Aimee Lou Wood, Saoirse Ronan, and Anna Sawai as the partners of the Fab Four. David Morrissey will portray Sir Paul McCartney's father, Jim McCartney, while Leanne Best will play John Lennon's aunt Mimi. James Norton has been confirmed to play manager Brian Epstein in the films.
